For the last 20 years Claude Monet worked almost exclusively on his garden in Giverny. Countless works were created around the beautifully landscaped garden.
This work is dedicated to him and I have tried to realize the picture in his style. This work of art is digitally painted with different brushes, gradients and filters in Photoshop. The psd file has over 30 layers and took me 2 days of work. The basis was a photo which is now completely changed in the colors and exposure conditions. To achieve more spatiality I worked with a relief filter and different area masks.
I hope Claude would have liked it and you like it too.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. I'm looking forward to your kind comments and fairy criticism. With the best regards - Lutz Roland Lehn .....read more about me on my Homepage: http://vancent.de or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lutzroland.lehn.1

Thank you so much. We are artists together in working to create what we see in our minds. Merry Christmas to you too.

I read that it took you two days to create this. I can’t believe you did it in two days! Some of my PS pieces took me much longer. I had one I worked on for a couple of months because it had so many layers. I was placing cutout photos onto a picture of a rock face. I finally finished it and it was pretty good. I haven’t loaded any PS digital paintings here yet. But I going to. I love your work.
Lutz Roland Lehn replied:
Thank you Beverly for your kind words. I am very happy that you like my work. I've been working with Photoshop for a few years, but also with Blender and Terragen. Some things take a lot of work and take a lot of time. Unfortunately, most people don't see this and think this is a photo that has been processed with a few filters. I work with different methods, but some things have only been created on a white surface with Photoshop brushes. I also like to use 3D models of beautiful classical sculptures and turn them into paintings (Gothic Beauty). At the end of the day, as a digital artist you also need a good feel for colours, shapes, perspectives and lighting - and most importantly an idea and inspiration. Dear Beverly, I also like many of your works and you can see that you have great imagination and skills. Best regards and a Merry Christmas!

What an awesome piece of art. I commend you for your work in Photoshop. It’s a wonderful program that takes a lot of learning. You are showing great skill in using it. I’m very impressed and love your work. 🌹🥰

This is absolutely magnificent you deserve to have won! I do quite a bit of digital painting, as well as acrylics, pens ink, and water color pencils and it really bothers me when that traditional artists often dismiss it as being a picture or something easy we do to cut corners. I have one called Changing Seasons in America that took me at least 7 months had at least 35 -40 different layers and lots of different brush work with 107 different faces and figures hidden or half hidden about the building of our country. Unless you see it printed at in at least 4ft x 5ft you cannot even appreciate it fully. It is so easy for me to get addicted to the fact you can even paint at the pixel level that often after that one I have had to pull back and stop myself from getting so wrapped up in a piece of art. Have a new favorite painter to follow... I have been busy lately and did not do it! If I had I would have voted for yours!
Lutz Roland Lehn replied:
Thank you very much dear Bonnie Marie. Your words are absolutely true. I also sometimes work for days or weeks on a picture. Mostly it is even the somewhat unremarkable images which have made a lot of work. In the hope that you are healthy and happy, I send you love from Germany.

I wonder how many glazings of paint Monet would have used and the hours of time?...I suspect he would have been learning your skills in this technological age to achieve such a WONDERful painting truly beautiful digital painting, Lutz! I am SO GRATEFUL that you explained all of the detail that goes into digital artistry. It helps hand artists like myself understand the similarities and deeply appreciate all of your work. I love how you noted that the original is hidden beneath the finished product...much like the many glazings in oils or acrylics...even some styles of Watercolour thank you! LF
Lutz Roland Lehn replied:
Thank you, dear Laurel! As always I am very happy about your dear comment. Yes, the basis here was a photo, but there is not much left of it. There are also a lot of layers I painted over it, textures and lighting is quite different and should look a little bit like Monet painted it. Surely he would have made it even more beautiful!
